Do you ever feel completely lost in your kink journey like everyone else has it all figured out but you? I get it. It can be overwhelming. And maybe you're worried you're not kinky enough to fit in. But trust me, you're not alone. And there is a way to find your unique path in this world. I'm Alessandra from Dom Subliving, and in this episode, I'm going to help you build confidence, find community, and help you explore your own journey in the kink lifestyle. Let's get started. Welcome to the Dom Subliving podcast. First of all, it is so common to feel overwhelmed or just even second-guessing yourself when you're on this journey. And I hear from my students all the time who are dealing with exactly that. Maybe you feel like you're an imposter trying to be a dominant or a submissive, and you're just lacking a lot of confidence. And when I first started, I remember feeling completely overwhelmed by all the options that are out there and just not knowing where to start. There was so much BDSM equipment and terms that I didn't even know. I didn't know how to go to a dungeon or what that was even about. And so I was just this little newbie who knew absolutely nothing and I was so overwhelmed. And maybe you're like how I was, where you're just scrolling through endless forums, just seeing people talk and live this lifestyle and just feeling like everyone else has it all figured out. It is totally normal to feel this way, especially when you're just starting out. But remember, this is a journey, not a race. So if you're feeling lost in kink to begin with, you need to build confidence in your unique kink journey. And this was something I had to really address for myself early on, because there was a time when I thought I had to fit into a specific role where I thought I had to be this specific submissive and look a certain way and act a certain way. And I didn't know about all the little different nuances that can come with being a sub, that I could be a slave or a little girl or even a brat. So I finally just realized that the more I discovered what feels right for me and for my dynamic, the happier and more confident I became. So to help build your confidence, self-exploration is just so important. There's tons of different ways that you can explore your interests and find out what you like. You can read books about it, you can read blogs, you can watch videos, you can experiment in different safe environments to really find out what it is that really interests you. So, for example, maybe you're interested in impact play because you heard a little bit about it. So, what you can do it to help build your confidence in that is just to educate yourself as much as possible about impact play, do all the research, and then just start really experimenting with different tools, different techniques. You can even do it at home to have that little safe environment for yourself where you don't feel like you have to be on display in a public dungeon. And to help build your confidence, I really want to encourage you to do some self-reflection. So ask yourself what excites me? What makes me feel safe and empowered? So you can even take time to journal about these. These can be journal prompts, but really take the time to do some self-reflection. And you can let me know online on social media or even in the comments too. You can tell me what's one thing in the kink world that you're curious to try but haven't yet. And those things will really help you to build your confidence. But on top of confidence, you also need to find community and support. Because finding a community is crucial in your kink journey because finding people who understand and get it and support your journey can make all the difference. So, how do you find community? I get that question all the time. So there's different online platforms, so you can start by joining an online community like ours at dombsubliving.com slash community. We'd be happy to have you. But there's also local events that you can go to also for community. So attending things like local munches, workshops, or even kink events, just so you can meet other like-minded people. And you can also even look for mentors or even just trusted friends that are within the community who can help you and guide you along on your journey. And we do offer coaching at dom subliving.com/slash all access. So we'd love to support you there. But finding a supportive community really helped me to personally grow. I found a lot of confidence and I just felt like my self-esteem as a submissive really skyrocketed after I went to my very first munch because I was able to just meet others and just see that a lot of them were just like people like me. And I was able to realize that I wasn't alone. So going to my first community event was what really started to push my confidence and my kink journey. So I want you to really think about what's holding you back from taking that step to find your community. Again, if you're an All Access Pass member, we have directories for finding communities, but really think about how you can take those steps to meet others in your area. But again, if you just want to find an online community, definitely go to domsubliving.com/slash community. And then the next step you need to take on your kink journey if you're feeling lost is to start exploring different kinks safely. So there's so many different various kinks. I mean, really the sky is the limit. So even just things like bondage, role play, um, rope play, sensation play, I mean, you name it. There's so many different things out there. We actually have a full checklist of different kinks you can grab and see at domsubliving.com slash checklist. So definitely grab that. It's totally free. But you really need to set boundaries and safety measures also. Because in order to have a long-lasting kink journey, you need to be safe. So you need to have things like safe words and limits. Because, for example, maybe you're curious about bondage, but you're just really nervous about how to stay safe. So just start small. Start with something like a tie or a scarf. Um, make sure you have scissors on hand in case you need to cut them right away, but just start small and communicate with your partner. And you really want to start experimenting with an open mind. So kind of think of it like a buffet. So when you go to a buffet, you don't just pile everything onto your plate because things would be falling off, you would get full by the time you're halfway through it, um, you wouldn't even remember what it is you ate. So, just like at a buffet, just really pick and choose a couple things, a few things to get started with, and just kind of sample what it is that interests you. So, think about something you've always wanted to try, but haven't yet, you haven't found the courage to start, um, really think about what that thing is and then maybe take some small steps to get involved with it. And then the next step, if you're feeling lost on your kink journey, is just to really master communication in your journey. Because communication is key. I'm always talking about it and for a reason. Because in kink, communication is it's not just important, it is essential. So whether you're negotiating scenes, you're talking about your desires and your wants, or you're setting boundaries, you're always having these open and honest conversations, and they are just so crucial. So, my tips for communication is just try journaling. If you haven't yet, you can journal about your experiences, different thoughts you have, and you can share those with your partner too, if that's something you have agreed on. And if you're a member of our All Excess Past, you can use the tools that we have there. We have a daily and weekly check-in templates that you can use to help with your communication. Because I know for me, effective communication has played a huge role in my personal BDSM journey. For me, learning to communicate really just opened a lot of doors. I was able to speak up for what I wanted, what I wanted to do, and it just really transformed my experience as a submissive, but also as a partner. And instead of being fearful or shy all the time, it just really started becoming more and more exciting. And it's just really when my BDSM journey started to take off. So let me know if you have any tips or hacks for effective communication in kink. I am always looking for more ways to learn. But just to recap everything really quick before we move on, if you're feeling lost in kink, work on building confidence, find community, explore safely and communicate effectively. And remember, your kink journey is unique to you. There's no right or wrong way to explore it as long as it feels safe and fulfilling.
