You can spend hours planning the perfect BDSM scene, or you can make your sub feel submissive in about 10 seconds. And after years of being a submissive myself, some of the things my Dom does that work best on me are ridiculously simple. I'm going to show you eight of them. Welcome to the Dom Sub-Living Podcast. Hey, it's Alessandra, and if you're new here, we talk about DS dynamics, power exchange, and how to actually live this lifestyle, not just fantasize about it. And I want to be upfront about something before we start. This episode isn't about bigger scenes or more intense play. It's about consistency. It's about the small, repeatable things that keep a submissive grounded in their submission without overcomplicating things and burning out either themselves or their Dom. So as I share these eight things, I want you to keep track of something. If you're the dominant listening right now, how many of these eight are you already doing without even realizing it? And if you're the submissive like me, how many of these do you secretly wish your partner would start? I'm going to walk you through all eight in a particular order that I think will really help you instead of just throwing in random ideas. I'll even tell you exactly how this looks in my own dynamic, and I'll be sharing things that my students and clients have found success with too. So let's start with number one. Take decisions off their plate. This might sound like a small thing, but for a lot of submissives, this is what it's all about. Because so many of the subs I work with, whether they're male or female or non-binary, a lot of the times they are high-functioning, super type A personalities. They have to make decisions all the time at work and at home. They are always the one planning and in charge. And usually they're the ones that everyone else looks to when they need something done. Think about that for a second. If you're the one that everyone goes to for the final decision, it would make sense that the last thing you want to do is to make decisions all the time in your relationship. That's what this is really about. It's about building a dynamic where you don't have to decide. So I'll give you a real example from my own relationship. A lot of times when we're getting ready, we're gonna go out to dinner or something, my dom will tell me, be ready at this time, and I want you to wear this. What that does for me is I don't have to think about what to wear. I don't have to count backwards and calculate the timing. I don't have to manage a single part of that evening, especially when I've been managing things all day with work and kids. All I have to do is get an instruction from my DOM and follow it. I've already dropped into that submissive mindset before we've even left the house. Now, for the dominants who are listening, this is why I think this is the biggest one on the list, because when a dominant is distracted or they're hesitant about every decision, then that pulls the submissive right back out of the headspace. If you've ever caught yourself asking your submissive, so what do you want for dinner? And you kind of do that every night, or what movie do you want to watch tonight? You're causing your submissive to have decision fatigue, and it's not good for either of you. I heard from someone in our community recently who said that her dominant had started planning their date nights completely on his own. So not needing any hand holding or trying to get her to make the decision. She said it was just such a small thing, but it felt like this huge weight had been lifted and she was finally able to be present in their DS dynamic for the first time in a long time. Okay, so we talked about taking decisions off their plate. Let's move into the second way to make your sub feel more submissive every day, and that is to use titles intentionally. So use their submissive title or your dominant title intentionally. So good girl, sir, daddy, mistress, whatever the word you use in your dynamic, when you use them at the right moment, that can make everything flip like a switch. And it doesn't have to be huge. A lot of times during the day, when my dom's at work, he'll just send me a quick text that says, How's my baby girl doing? Even though it's just something cute that maybe even vanilla people might do. For me, it's actually an anchor to my submission. I don't need a big, elaborate scene every day. We don't need an hour of privacy away from the kids in the bedroom. We don't even have to be in the same room. It's just a simple text that he can send when he's at work or even just pumping gas. It still works. And it goes both directions. When I call him sir or daddy during the day, it puts me in the mindset too. It's not just something he does to me, it's something I actively do on purpose to keep myself in that mindset. So I want you to do a little experiment right now. Even if you're in the car listening to this, even if you're the Dom or the sub, say the word sir out loud. Like just try it. Say sir and notice what your body does. Notice what your shoulders do and how your voice sounds when you say it. It just kind of puts you back in alignment. That's why even soldiers have to say it in the military. It makes your whole body and mind just kind of come to attention. Now I hear from people all the time that they have family members around or coworkers that don't know that they're in this lifestyle and they're afraid of being found out or being seen as weird. They don't want to have their submissive or dominant role out in the open. And I get it, but using a title can be something simple you do behind closed doors or even in a text message. But I would even argue that you can say it out loud. A lot of times in public, I will call my partner sir or daddy, and no one tries to come at me. They think I'm either just being silly or they think that's just what I call him because he is a parent to our children. A lot of times I think we worry more about these things than other people do. But let's move on to number three on this list, and that is to give them something to ask permission for. Again, this doesn't have to be huge. It can just be asking for permission around having a treat or making a purchase or going to bed or wearing a certain item of clothing. Even something like self-pleasure could be something that the submissive has to ask permission for, but it's all about creating everyday opportunities to consciously surrender control. And here's how I do it. If I'm out and about and running errands, and let's say I want a sweet treat, I have to message my Dom and ask permission first. I may be in a parking lot with the coffee shop right in front of me. And instead of just walking in and grabbing what I want, I have to stop and pull out my phone and ask my Dom and then wait. Like maybe it's 30 seconds, maybe it's five minutes. But in that period of time, I'm not thinking about that almond milk latte anymore. I'm thinking about my Dom. So here's my question for you. What's the one thing in your day or week that if you had to ask permission for it, it would actually enhance your dynamic. I'm not talking about something huge. I'm talking about something small enough that you'd have to just make a conscious decision. And this can grow over time. If you're newer to this, you might just start with one thing, like bedtime or a special treat. If you have a more established dynamic, you can be having multiple things that you have to ask permission for. And they just kind of layer on top of each other. There's really no wrong place to start here. I've heard of a submissive who kind of has a super mundane thing she has to ask permission for, and that's just using her phone before bed. But that works better than any elaborate tasks that they've tried before. Sometimes the small stuff works better because you're able to just be more consistent with it, and that's the whole point. Okay, moving on to number four. The fourth way to help your submissive feel more submissive is to notice and praise their submission. So don't only correct yourself when things go wrong. That's a trap that a lot of dominants fall into because I think they're just so punishment heavy. Even if you just say something like, I noticed you remembered without me having to ask you, you're a good girl or good boy. That will do more for your dynamic than just nitpicking all of their mistakes. This actually happened the other day for us. So we were at a quick service restaurant and Jay had gone up and got our food. But when he brought it back to the table, he saw that um some of his food item had been missing. I think it was like a side of bread or something. So I was laying out for us the food that was there while he went back up to the counter to get it fixed. And here's the thing: my food was already sitting right in front of me, and I was just sitting there by myself. I was starving, but I sat there and I didn't eat. I didn't even really think about it as a big deal. It just felt natural to wait for him. When he came back with his piece of bread and he sat down and he started eating his meal, that's when I started eating. Again, I wasn't really aware of any of this going on. It was just kind of second nature for me. But he just looked at me and he said, Good job waiting to eat, baby girl. And that was it. Just like a really small compliment, but it just hit me so harder than I expected because honestly, I didn't even really notice that was what was going on. It wasn't like I was doing it to get some extra submissive points. I did it because it's just what I do. The fact that he caught it and mentioned it just made me feel so much more submissive in that moment. So, when was the last time your partner caught you doing something that was submissive or dominant that you didn't even think they noticed? And on the flip side, when was the last time you told them that you noticed? For the dominants who are listening, this is a habit you have to develop. It means you have to actively look for the small stuff and not just respond when something goes wrong. Maybe you literally keep a mental list of just little things throughout the week that you want to share with your partner later, and you even jot it down in the notes app of your phone. That would show you're submissive, that you're really paying attention. And when they see that you notice, it'll make them want to be even more submissive. Okay, the waiting to eat thing is actually the perfect transition into number five, because waiting isn't just something that happens by accident with a submissive. It's something you can build into your relationship completely on purpose. So number five is make them wait. Have the submissive wait for the dominant to start something or to change activities, like to move, to speak, or to receive something they want. Anticipation reinforces who's actually directing the experience. We already talked about waiting to eat, but there are other ways to build this in. Not having them get out of the car until the dominant walks around and opens the door for them, making them kneel at the end of the night instead of getting straight into bed right away. That one is actually a real ritual in my own relationship. At night I kneel and I have to ask permission before I get into bed. But sometimes I ask and my dom will say, not yet. Maybe he just kind of finishes uh tasks he's doing first. Maybe he goes and finds something to do really quick. Maybe he gets in bed and reads for a few minutes while I wait. And it's not like he's punishing me, it's just a small reminder. It's it's like he's showing me without saying anything that he's the one directing this, not me. And that also kind of leads us to the sixth way to help your sub feel more submissive every day, and that's use positioning intentionally. Positioning cues the submissive's body to respond to their DOM over time. So the dominant can direct where they stand, where they sit, where they kneel, where they place their hands, where they look. Positioning can create a strong psychological change without needing to do anything elaborate. And a good rule of thumb is for the dominant to always try to be physically higher than the submissive. So if you're on the couch watching a movie, have your submissive sit on the floor. If you're talking to your submissive and they're sitting on a chair, then the dominant can stand up. Even something as small as posture counts. A lot of times my dom will tell me, put your shoulders back because I tend to hunch. And if we're in a conversation and he can tell I'm feeling nervous or shy about something, he'll say, look at me. And again, this isn't about correcting me. It's more about redirecting my focus back to him in the exact moment that my mind is starting to drift somewhere else because I'm feeling anxious. So again, another experiment I want you to do right now, whether you're the Dom or the Sub, what is your body doing right now, this very second, while you're listening to me? Are your shoulders back or are they creeping up toward your ears? Working on your posture or the Dom directing the sub's posture can keep both of you grounded in your role. Okay, now number seven, weave service tasks into daily life. So making coffee a specific way, having something ready when they get home, handling a chore that's just theirs to own. It can even be a morning check-in text, asking before getting into bed, wearing a you know, certain item like a collar. The key here is it's maintainable. This isn't about taking on 10 new tasks overnight. It's about picking one or two that just eventually become automatic, and so automatic that you barely register that you're doing it anymore. Because if your submission had to survive a genuinely busy week, so we're talking kids, work deadlines, zero energy left for a scene, what's the one small task that would still hold the whole thing together? For a lot of couples I work with, that one task is the thing that carries a dynamic through the hardest parts of their life when nothing bigger is realistically possible. If you want a full list of tasks and protocols, the sub can do. I've actually put together over 20 of them. They're broken down and ready to use for you. It's a free download at domsubliving.comslash protocols. The link is in the description too. Go grab it after this episode, or honestly, just hit pause right now and get it because our last one, number eight, is going to make a lot more sense once you've seen the whole list. So again, that's domsubliving.comslash protocols, or again, just hit the link in the description. Okay, the eighth way, the last way to make your sub feel more submissive every day is microdose BDSM. This is the one my students message me about the most. And here's why. When you hear the word BDSM, does your brain immediately jump to a dungeon or a weekend scene or rope hanging from the ceiling? I get it because that's how a lot of people picture it. But what if the most consistent DOM sub headspace you ever feel actually comes from something that just takes 10 seconds? We think BDSM has to be reserved for these huge, elaborate scenes like the kind you plan for a weekend or that you drive out to a dungeon for. But really, you can integrate BDSM into an ordinary day, just in tiny doses, and it works just as powerful. Let me give you a few examples straight from my own life. So my Dom has had me wear handcuffs while I did completely normal tasks around the house, like nothing dramatic, just putting cuffs on me, and I just fold the laundry or clean our bedroom. He's had me wear a leash before with no scene involved at all, just me sitting and reading a book with a leash on. I've worn a rope chest harness under my clothes and gone about my whole day like that, and nobody around me had any idea. Even something like writing lines counts. So it's not a punishment, it's just a reminder, it's just discipline. Something like, I will always obey my Dom and just writing that out 50 times. You know, it's something simple as that. You can also do kneeling for you know five or 10 minutes as a form of meditation. It just kind of does the same thing. And if you've listened to the podcast before, you know I'm a huge fan of maintenance bankings. I've got a whole separate episode on those. So go check that out if you want to deep dive on it. But the short version is maintenance bankings are a way to keep both of you in that mindset consistently and not just during a big plan scene. So that's another thing you can do. And then there's this other thing we do because I'm genuinely a huge masochist. There have been times when I'm super stressed, um, like really stressed, and my dom will just tell me to put out my hands and he'll go grab something like a ruler or a wooden spoon, and he'll just smack my hands because he knows I need that specific kind of pain in that specific moment. It's not a punishment, it's about giving me something grounding and something physical when my brain is going in a million directions and it just kind of resets me. And I want to say clearly, this doesn't have to involve pain at all to work. Um, one member of our community wears his collar under his dress shirt at work, like every single day. And that's his version of microdosing this lifestyle. So there's no pain, no bondage, just one object against his skin that reminds him exactly who he belongs to for eight hours straight. So microdosing looks different depending on what actually works for you. The point is to integrate BDSM and your dynamic into an ordinary day in tiny doses so that way the sub feels more submissive every day. Okay, so now let's really quick go over all of these again. So number one, take decisions off their plate. Number two, use titles intentionally. Three, give them something to ask permission for. And I'd love to know out of these eight ways, which one are you going to focus on first? Reach out to me on social media or in our free community at domsubliving.comslash community. But until next time, keep embracing your power and pleasure through Dom Sub Living.
